Devoted to the study of comparative and transnational laws and legal systems, the Comparative Law e-Newsletter (CLN) is open access, peer-reviewed and refereed newsletter published bi-monthly with six issues per year, by Maharashtra National Law University Aurangabad. It embraces analytical, theoretical, empirical and socio-legal attempts surrounding the public and private law aspects of various legal systems. It aims to encourage comparative legal studies in the transnational context of legal history, theory, philosophy, legal cultures and traditions, by tracking the developments in the field across the world.

The call for papers by MNLU Aurangabad Comparative Law e-Newsletter seeks works that are dynamic and interdisciplinary in nature with a specific display of comprehensive knowledge on the subject matter.

Theme

The submission must deal with a contemporary issue of “Police Power and International Investment”.

Submission Categories

Submissions made to the newsletter can be in the nature of any of the following categories. Contributors are requested to kindly mention the nature of the submission in the body of the mail accompanying their submission. Apart from the contents mentioned hereunder, the newsletter shall also feature interviews and opinions of prominent scholars and professionals surrounding the theme of the issue.

  • Short Articles: Contributions on an area within the theme encompassing theoretical arguments and comparative analysis.
  • Case Comments: Analyses of any case falling under the theme of the issue.
  • Legislative Comments: Analyses of legislations related to the theme.
  • Social Spotlight: A case study of obscure social issues looked through the lenses of law.

Submission Guidelines

  • The e-Newsletter intends to include contributions from students, experts, scholars, academicians and professionals from any field.
  • The suggested word limit for the contribution is 500 to 700 words excluding endnotes.
  • Main text: Times New Roman, Font size 12, Line spacing 1.5.
  • Endnotes: Times New Roman, Font size 10, Line spacing 1.0.
  • Style of endnotes should be according to “OSCOLA” latest edition.
  • Only one submission per author is permitted. Co-authorship is permitted to a maximum of 2 authors.
  • All submissions must be original, unpublished and should not have been submitted for review elsewhere. Plagiarism in any form shall result in instant rejection of the submission. The decision of the Board of Editors in this matter is final and binding.
  • Submissions must be in the English language only and must be submitted in MS Word Format (.doc/.docx) to mnluacln@gmail.com under the subject heading “Submission: MNLUA Comparative Law e-Newsletter”.
  • The body of the mail shall contain the name and designation, email id, contact number of the author(s).

About Indian Constitutional Law Review

Indian Constitutional Law Review is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal published by Harbinger. ICLRQ is published with the intention to promote and contribute to the growth of Constitutionalism in India. It revolves around the issues pertaining to the wide sphere of Constitutional Law and within its array, covers all areas of law through its interactions with them.

Themes

The submissions shall revolve around contemporary happenings and/or any relevant issue in relation to Constitutional Law, or its interdisciplinary aspects, and must establish their relevance to the area of study that the journal undertakes.

Submission Categories

Submissions in the following categories are invited

  • Research Papers: 5000-7000 words (exclusive of footnotes)
  • Articles: 3000-5000 words (exclusive of footnotes)
  • Case Comments: 2000-4000 words (exclusive of footnotes)

Manuscripts exceeding the word limit may be considered at the discretion of the Editorial Board.

Submission Guidelines

  • An abstract shall be mandatory for Research Papers and Articles but not for Case Comments. Such abstract can be around 250 words, and must not exceed 400 words.
  • Research Papers and Articles must contain 5 relevant keywords, to be indicated at the end of the abstract
  • Co-authorship up to two co-authors is permissible. However, no author may submit more than ONE manuscript per edition, regardless of co-authorship status.
  • Submissions must be original and neither published nor under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • All manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism and those containing plagiarism over the permissible limit will be summarily rejected.
  • ICLRQ accepts citations only in the form of footnotes. Citations must follow the 21st Edition of the Bluebook and must not be explanatory in nature.
  • The formatting guidelines are available here.
  • Submissions not in accordance with the submission guidelines and the additional instructions as set out above are liable to be summarily rejected.

UNFCCC Remote Internship Opportunity [Adaptation Division]: Apply by Aug 15

Background

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is the focus of the political process to address climate change. The secretariat supports the Convention, its Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement by a range of activities, including substantive and organizational support to meetings of the Parties.

The Adaptation Division of the UNFCCC secretariat supports the intergovernmental process relating to adaptation. This process includes activities relating to national adaptation plans, the Nairobi work programme, the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage and its Executive Committee, the Adaptation Committee, the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform, adaptation communications and the adaptation registry. The Adaptation Division also engages Parties and stakeholders, including national, regional, multilateral and international organizations, across public and private sectors, civil society and other relevant stakeholders.

About the Internship

Nature and Duration of Internship

  • The remote (or in-person internship, should the current pandemic situation allow) internship is for a minimum period of 2 (two) and maximum of 6 (six) months within the period 01 October 2021 to 30 April 2022.
  • The exact period will be determined based on the availability of the intern and the needs of the division.
  • The selected intern will work remotely, coordinating with the team at the UNFCCC campus in Bonn, Germany.
  • The internship may be in-person should the current pandemic situation allows and upon the intern’s interest.

Responsibilities of the Intern

The intern is expected to contribute to the work on coordinating the collaborative implementation of the Paris Agreement, especially in relation to external communications on adaptation. The intern is expected to perform a range of research, compilation and drafting related tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Undertaking background research of the latest news and developments in the area of climate change adaptation in and outside the negotiation process.
  • Supporting the work on external communications by researching, drafting and disseminating adaptation-related information through the secretariat’s and programme’s communication channels;
  • Supporting Adaptation programme’s events and outputs (ex. newsletters, social posts, articles, documents) from a communications perspective;
  • Undertaking background research on the programme’s communications channels and structure in order to identify possible ways to enhance its use or propose new ones.

Eligibility

Candidates must be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) or a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) at a recognized university at the time of application and during the entire period of internship.

Candidates must be fluent in English (both oral and written) and have strong writing and note-taking skills. Knowledge of additional UN languages is an asset.

Preference is given to candidates studying in the fields of economics, development studies, environmental sciences, international relations, or other related fields with good understanding of climate change and its negotiating process.

Computer Requirements

  • For a remote internship, candidates will require a laptop or desktop PC (with Windows 10 or newer) or Mac (with the latest MacOS update), as well as a reliable, high-speed internet connection.
  • An Office 365 license will be provided by the UNFCCC to enable the candidate to access official emails, SharePoint, OneDrive and other office applications, such as Word and Excel.

Further computer requirements:

  • An antivirus application which receives regular updates;
  • Browsers must be a newer version with regular updates enabled;
  • Regular Windows 10 updates should be enabled with Windows laptop or PC.
  • In addition, a mobile phone will be required to enable Multifactor Authentication (MFA) through SMS or the Authenticator App.
