Concept Note

In the backdrop of the New Education Policy and Outcome Based Education, the Higher Education Institutions have been focusing on scholarship in all specialized areas of study in combination with its corresponding impact in interdisciplinary spaces in order to make education more meaningful. In the discipline of Law, it is Jurisprudence that forms the bridge between the aims and fulfillment of these goals. Although not whole heartedly accepted by many of the students of law, cognitive training in Jurisprudence is essential in developing sound solutions for national and international problems. In the absence of any single authoritative definition of Jurisprudence, a speculative mind can still offer an intellectual challenge to the status quo and reform as well as refine the law in the interest of all.

Since Jurisprudence is one of the specialized courses related to the perspective building as approved by the BCI and is an updated subject relevant and capable of capturing the changes in legal studies, the School of Law, Galgotias University is pleased to inform and invite faculty members from all over India and abroad to participate in a week-long online Faculty Development Program on the importance of Jurisprudence in teaching Laws. There would be day-wise theme-based discussion, as research, teaching Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, IPR, ADR, and Corporate Laws. The themes of the sessions would range from the jurisprudential aspects of teaching a variety of laws; role of Jurisprudence in traditional theories of constitutional governance, corporate governance, gender inclusivity, to legal education and profession during and after COVID-19, basic research ethics and indexing, etc.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER 

Professor (Dr.) Ram Niwas Sharma is the Dean of School of Law, IMS Unison University, Dehradun. He is a Science graduate, LLB and Master of Laws from the Jodhpur University. He enrolled as an Advocate and practiced in Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur up to 1978. He taught at the Faculty of Law, Jodhpur University for over 33 years. He was Vice Chancellor at IASE Deemed University, Sardarshahar for over two years.

He has over 35 years of teaching experience, authored more than nine books and has participated and presented research papers in over 70 National Seminars. He has presented and participated in 11 International Conferences/ Seminars and has more than 45 published research papers in various national and international journals.

More than 22 scholars have been awarded Ph.D. in Law under his guidance and supervision. He has evaluated more than 100 Ph. D. theses from more than 20 universities. He has organised more than nine National Seminars. Having visited over 30 countries, he has delivered over 60 extension lectures/ invited lectures. He has a vast administrative experience and also been Dean and Head, elected with highest vote (four times) for Senate, has been member Syndicate, Director UGC Academic Staff College, President University’s Board of Sports, Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur. He has been a teacher leader and has been President/ Secretary of the Teachers’ Union for more than 12 years.

What is UGC- NET exam and Who appears?

Qualifying UGC-NET Examination is quint essential for appointment as Assistant Professors in Law Colleges and Universities across the country and thus for anyone who wishes to pursue an academic career in India will compulsory have to appear and crack this exam.
