About the Organisation:

Team Attorneylex is a Student-run organisation, it is an online platform for law students where they can contribute their legal knowledge and get recognized for their contribution.

About the Competition:

The objective of this competition is to promote the importance of the latest landmark judgment passed by the Supreme Court of India. This competition will enable the participants to know how these latest judgments have changed the overall course of justice. The Supreme Court landmark judgments provided as the theme of the Competition would not only enrich the academic experience but also provide knowledge about the practical aspect of the professional legal world. This Case Comment Writing Competition seeks to promote original thoughts, and analysis amongst students, researchers, academicians and legal practitioners.

National Article Writing competition by the Legit Society Of Awareness and Bolster

About The Legit Society Of Awareness and Bolster 

The Legit Society Of Awareness and Bolster  is an innovative start-up created for Public, Educational, sustainable development, socio-economic, cross-culture awareness through various means viz events, articles publishing, conducting surveys Etc, Society have been implemented various integrity-based programmes to develop the leadership capacity of the society and inculcating the sense of belongings amongst people of all groups and religion & various other events.

Theme

There are no restrictions as to the topic of the article. The participants are open to choose the topic of their choice provided it shall cover by area of law.

Submission Guidelines

  1. The Article Shall be English  language only and the submission shall be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx format).
  2. Only one submission is allowed per author 
  3. The Article must contain an abstract of not more than 250 words, including keywords.
  4.  Co-authorship is permitted.
  5. Minimum limit of words is 1000 words, including footnotes & Citation. Maximum limit shall exceed 4000 words. 
  6. There shall be a proper title for the Article.
  7. The plagiarism should not exceed the limit of 20% & should be the original/unpublished work of the participants.
  8. There shall be a separate cover letter along with the main manuscript which includes name of author, Address, Title of the essay, e-mail address, Institution name, designation/ year of the study, contact details

About the Justice Dipak Misra National Moot Court Competition

Justice Dipak Misra National Moot Court Competition, 2022 is an initiative of ‘The Advocates League [TAL]’. This competition is an annual competition that will witness participation from recognised law universities/colleges all over India.

Aim & Purpose

The Advocates is organizing the 2nd Justice Dipak Misra National Moot Court Competition, 2022. The competition has been proposed to create opportunities for learning the development of jurisprudence on emerging trends, in the legal profession, besides developing cutting-edge skills in research, writing, and advocacy.

Eligibility

  • Any student pursuing a degree in law either a five-year law course or a three-year course from a recognised college/university in India shall be eligible to take part in the competition.
  • The determination of the eligibility of the teams shall be at the discretion of the organizing committee.

About the Chair on Consumer Law, NLUD

The Chair on Consumer Law has been established at the National Law University, Delhi by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India in the year 2019. The Chair was set up to act as a Think Tank for Research and Policy related issues on Consumer Law & Practice, and to develop Consumer Law as a distinct subject of study both at Under Graduate & Post Graduate levels.

About the Blog Writing Competition by NLUD

On the occasion of National Consumer Day which is being celebrated on December 24, 2021, the Chair on Consumer law, NLU Delhi (“the Chair”) is organising a Blog Writing Competition by NLUD. The best two entries would be given the Certificate of Appreciation by the Chair accepted blogs and published in the Second Issue of the Newsletter of the Chair. The Chair has already published the first issue of its newsletter in October 2021.

General Guidelines

  • Co-authorship is permitted. (Maximum of two authors)
  • The submission shall be in the English language.
  • The word limit for the article is 1200 words. However, longer submissions may be considered on a need basis.  The word limit is inclusive of the footnotes.
  • Any uniform format of citation can be adhered to for the purpose of citations.
  • The submission must have hyperlinks to sources, including any judgments, laws, treaties or other legal texts which are referenced. Hyperlinks must link only to legal or respected news sources. The Editorial Board will make the final decision over what constitutes a respectable source. References that cannot be hyperlinked may be cited using any uniform style of formatting.
  • The submission of the author/authors shall be the original work of the author and should not be plagiarized. All submissions will undergo a strict online plagiarism check.
  • The authors must also include a declaration as to the bona fides of their submission in their email. A sample declaration to that effect can be: “The article/blog is an original work of the author(s). I(We) certify that my(our) submission is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under review or consideration elsewhere.”
  • The final publication of all submissions shall be subject to changes by the Board.
  • The Board reserves the right to summarily reject or return the submission to the author/authors without feedback for non-compliance with these guidelines.
  • In case of any dispute, the decision of the Board shall be final and binding.
  • The opinion/thoughts/ideas or any view of the author expressed and published on the blog are respective views of the authors. The institution or the Board shall not be held responsible or accountable for the opinion expressed by the author on the blog article.
  • A relevant photograph can be provided by the authors describing their blog submission. Accompanying the image is optional (The Board may include one if accepted by the author). If the author wishes to provide an image to go with her blog article, the photo should be attributed (provide image source URL), be at least 200×200 pixels in either. JPG or. PNG format.
  • If the blog article is published, the author has full rights to the content, including but not limited to editing, mixing, duplicating, using, or re-using it in whole or in part as he/she chooses. However, copyright of the blog articles, once it is published, would vest entirely with the Chair on Consumer Law, NLUD.
  • Cross-publishing is allowed although, with the prior permission of the Board, due credits must be given to the site of publication of the newsletter while cross-posting. It should be done in the following format:-  “This article/blog was first published on the …… Blog.”

Submission Guidelines

  • The Author/s have been required to email the manuscript to consumerchair@nludelhi.ac.in.
  • All entries should be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
  • The last date for submission is December 30, 2021.
  • The best entry will get a Certification of Appreciation and the top two blogs shall be published in the upcoming issue of the Newsletter of the Chair on Consumer Law, NLU Delhi.
  • The author(s) shall specify in the mail body:

About 1st Online National Client Counselling Competition

The 1st Online National Client Counselling Competition promotes greater knowledge and interest among law students in the preventative law and counselling functions of law practice. It also encourages students to develop interviewing, planning, and analytical skills in the lawyer-client relationship in the law office. Interviewing and advising is a significant part of most lawyer’s work. The Competition
provides an opportunity for a valuable educational and cultural interchange between students, law teachers, and legal practitioners.

Eligibility

Students of three-year and five-year law degree courses from any University/Law School/College/Department are eligible to apply for
registration of their team.

Team Composition

Each team shall consist of one individual or a maximum of two persons that qualify the eligibility criteria. Multiple teams are allowed from different universities/Law schools/Colleges/Departments.

Registration Process

  • The registration fee shall be Rs. 499/– for each team. The registration fee shall be non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • The last date for registration is 08:00 p.m. IST, 30th September 2021.
  • Teams can register by filling this google form.
  • Once a team registers by completing the formalities given, a Code (hereinafter “Team Code”) shall be assigned to the team.

Dress Code

Code: The dress code for the competition is business formals. Gowns and bands are not permitted to be worn by the participants in the competition. Non-adherence to the dress code shall attract a penalty.

Theme: The Client Counselling preposition for the 1st National Client Counselling Competition 2021, organized by The Law Communicants, is based on Family Laws, Constitutional Laws, Law of Crimes, Contract Law, Property Laws, and the Law of Torts.

2nd National Virtual Client Counselling Competition 2021 By Legal Zems (22nd October 2021 To 24th October 2021)

ABOUT COMPETITION

Client counseling is a vital skill in which the students of law should be trained. One of the significant functions of a lawyer is to advise the people who seek assistance in knowing the legal implications of their actions. This function of the lawyer influencing and facilitating decisions is called counseling. 

ELIGIBILITY

Any student who is pursuing a five-year or three-year course of law will be eligible. 

RULES AND REGULATIONS 

A. This competition is open for all the law students from different recognized Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions across the country.

B. Multiple teams are allowed from a University/College/Institute.

C. The competition is a team event which shall comprise of two individuals.

FORMAT OF THE COMPETITION

1. The participants shall conduct an interview with a person playing the role of the client (Provided by the Host Organization). 

2. Participants are expected to elicit the relevant information from the client, outlining the nature of the problem, and to explore the different legal avenues available for providing a solution to the problem with means (or range of alternatives) for resolving the same.

3. The interview with the client will then be followed by a post-consultation period during which the participants, in the absence of the client, analyze the interview and discuss the legal and other work to be undertaken, during which the presiding Judges may ask them questions if they deem fit. 

4. The interview and post-consultation period are for 40 minutes only [30 minutes (Interview) +10 minutes (Post-Consultation)]. 

5. The Semifinalists and Finalists will be given an extra time of 10 minutes with the client in the semi-final and final round.

6. During the consultation and post-consultation, the team may use books, notes, electronic media, and other materials.

7. The participants must follow the formal dress code.

8. Organizers reserve the right to alter/change the rules/ or procedure of the competition if the need so arises.

9. Decision of adjudicators and organizing committee shall be binding in the end.

10. Video feed shall be on during the whole session.

11. Legal Zems shall not be responsible for any technical issue from the participant’s end.

12. Inappropriate behavior shall lead to disqualification from the event.

13. During the post-consultation session, participants shall put their mic off while discussing or they shall discuss in front of the judges as well. But the video feed shall be ON in both cases.

14. The Team shall consist of 2 members only Known as Counsel 1 & Counsel 2.

STRUCTURE OF THE COMPETITION

PRELIMINARY ROUND: All teams shall compete against each other and the top 08 scoring teams shall be carried forward to the next round.

SEMI-FINAL ROUND: Top 08 teams from Preliminary Round shall compete against each other and the top 2 teams out of them shall be carried forward to the final round.

FINAL ROUND: Top 2 teams from Semi-Final Round shall compete against each other and the winner and the runners-up shall be declared from them.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The Marking scheme shall comprise 50 marks per participant, which shall be distributed as follows:

1. Presence of mind = 10 marks 

2. Ability to provide legal solution = 10 marks

3. Tactfully handling the client = 10 marks 

4. Extracting relevant information from client = 10 marks

5. Audible summarizing & teamwork (Post Consultation) = 10 marks

NOTE: If two or more teams are otherwise qualified to advance after the Preliminary Rounds are tied due to the reason of having the same score, then both or all will be allowed to proceed to the next round. In case of a tie in the Finals, the total score of the teams tied, i.e. the score of the Preliminary round, Quarter-finals, Semi-Finals and the Final Round will be taken into account.
