About National Forensic Sciences University

The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) with the status of an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India is the World’s First and Only University dedicated to forensic and investigative sciences.
It was established by the Government of India through Act, 2020 (32 of 2020) with the objective of fulfilling the acute shortage against the increasing demand for forensic experts in the country and around the world.
National Forensic Sciences University erstwhile, known as ‘Gujarat Forensic Science University is the brainchild of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modiji, then Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2009 established in the state of Gujarat to facilitate and promote studies and research and to achieve excellence in the field of forensic science in conjunction with applied behavioral science studies, law, criminology, and other allied areas and technology and other related fields. Prof. (Dr.) J. M. Vyas is the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

About the Workshop

The application of scientific methods to investigate crimes and to find out the suspect person involved in the crime has been playing a decisive role in crime investigation. With the development in science and technology the notion of crime as well as the various methods used by criminals in its commission have experienced a remarkable change. The term ‘Forensic’ is derived from the Latin word ‘forensic which means belonging to courts of justice. ‘Forensic Science can be well-defined as a “scientific discipline which is directed to the recognition, identification, individualization, evaluation of physical evidence by the application of the principles and methods of natural sciences for the purpose of administration of criminal
justice”. ‘Forensic Science’ includes all branches of physical and natural sciences i.e., chemistry, biology, physics, and geology. After the passage of few years, it has established its own branches, which are more or less the exclusive domain of forensic science. Anthropology, odontology, fingerprints, footprints, ballistics, serology, cyber forensic were basically developed to assist the criminal justice administration.
Collection and preservation of ‘forensic evidence’ is a challenging task for the law enforcement agencies which has utmost importance during criminal proceedings.

Further, it has been observed from many cases that due to improper collection of evidence from the crime scene, the prosecution has failed to prove the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt which ultimately results in acquittal of the accused. Moreover, the production of the ‘forensic evidence’ in an effective manner in the court of law also necessitates skills and knowledge which can be learned through proper training and practice.
The present workshop aims to address all the existing issues and loopholes and will provide a platform of learning to all stakeholders from experienced trainers in the field of forensic science.

Arbitration is one of the modes of alternative dispute resolution to resolve civil disputes outside the court. Arbitration is normally used for commercial disputes, especially in the context of international commercial transactions. The person who arbitrates is known as arbitrator. Like arbitration, mediation is also one of the modes of alternative dispute resolution to resolve civil disputes outside the court. Usually, under the mediation process a neutral and impartial third party who is an expert of law and another experienced person called as mediator resolve the dispute between two parties. Types of dispute that can be mediated are commercial, contract, diplomatic, workplace, community, property, and family and matrimonial matters.

Disputes resolved by Arbitration and Mediation have the value of the decision passed by court of law and arbitration award mediator settlement if accepted and duly signed by both the parties it is a valid decision.

Based on Nature: arbitration is a formal process and it follows almost same proceeding as in litigation but outside the court whereas, mediation is a informal process

Based on Elements: arbitration needs steps in evidence. Mediation does not require any kind of evidence.

Webinar on Implications of Recent Developments in Corporate and International Taxation | August 05, 2021

About the Event

In the business, Taxation laws play a key role and each development impacts different facets of the business. In the recent past, Corporate & International Taxation laws underwent many such changes like enhancement in scope of Equalization Levy, newly notified thresholds by CBDT for Significant Economic Presence, changes in Dividend taxation regime, and other important changes particularly for strengthening start-up ecosystem. Such developments are usually followed by several incongruities in their interpretation while businesses strive for their appropriate implementation. Despite this, limited departmental clarifications and judicial guidance are available on such changes.

To share insights on these recent developments, NITYA Tax Associates in association with Asire Consulting LLP presents a webinar on ‘Implications of Recent Developments in Corporate & International Taxation’ on August 5, 2021, from 12 PM to 1 PM. This webinar will be led by Mr. RAHUL GARG, Managing Partner, Asire Consulting LLP. Our Managing Partner, Mr. Puneet Bansal will moderate the same. In this webinar, we will touch upon the following topics:

  • Scope of Equalization Levy 2.0 and its interplay with other provisions
  •  Newly introduced provisions relating to Significant Economic Presence
  •  New Dividend taxation regime
  •  Potential structures for Startups to enhance value creation
