About This Course

Any litigation involves an aspect of good drafting. So, a lawyer is supposed to have knowledge over the substantive law as well as the procedural one.

Whether you sit in a job interview or an internship interview, the most basic requirement they seek in you is if you can draft an SLP or a Writ or Suit.

And even when you go for a job or an internship, the first job that you get as a junior is to draft something.

Therefore, drafting is an essential tool for you to stand out from the rest of the crowd.

To know the basic provisions relating to drafting or the procedures involved in the same or the different format prescribed under relevant rules and laws is one of the primary task of a lawyer. This particular course gives you practical as well as theoretical insight into civil drafting.

The course structure includes imparting basic knowledge relating to Writs, SLP’s, Suits and other ancillary proceedings to the students and to give them a practical insight of the same.

Our Resource Person

  • Mr. Vipul D. Sundriyal is a graduate from the Gujarat National Law University.
  • He has been designated as an Advocate-on-Record in the Supreme Court in the year 2017.
  • He has been a counsel for the Central Government before the Supreme Court
  • Mr.Vipul has been nominated as an Additional Standing Counsel for the South Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Duration of the Course

6 days with 2 hours each day, wherein at the end of the session, a practical problem will be given to students to draft a Writ or an SLP or a Suit.

The students would be required to draft the same and submit it within a week.

Structure and Timeline of the course

(A).     Orientation Session on how to approach a case before drafting – What is list of dates and how to prepare it – how to prepare Synopsis.

(B).     Writs before High Court – Drafting and Procedure

(C).    Writs before Supreme Court – Drafting and Procedure

(D).    Special Leave Petitions before Supreme Court – Drafting and Procedure

(E).     Legal Drafting relating to Civil Cases – Drafting of Legal Notice, Plaint, Written Statement and Rejoinder

(F).      Interim Applications in a case with the main emphasis on Applications under order 39 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908

**NOTE: Participants will also be provided with various formats of legal drafting including vakalatnama, Suits, Writs and notices.
