Call for Chapters: Edited Books on Crypto currency and online dispute resolution: Submit by October 15

ABOUT BOOKS

  • A HANDBOOK ON CRYPTO CURENCY

crypto currency is a digital currency that is created and managed through the use of advanced encryption techniques known as cryptography. Crypto currency made the leap from being an academic concept to (virtual) reality with the creation of Bitcoin in 2009. While Bitcoin attracted a growing following in subsequent years, it captured significant investor and media attention in April 2013 when it peaked at a record $266 per bitcoin after surging 10-fold in the preceding two months. So, will these alternative currencies eventually supplant conventional currencies and become as ubiquitous as dollars and euros someday? Or are crypto currencies a passing fad that will flame out before long?

Some economic analysts predict a big change in crypto is forthcoming as institutional money enters the market. Moreover, there is the possibility that crypto will be floated on the Nasdaq, which would further add credibility to blockchain and its uses as an alternative to conventional currencies. Some predict that all that crypto needs is a verified exchange traded fund (ETF). An ETF would definitely make it easier for people to invest in Bitcoin, but there still needs to be the demand to want to invest in crypto, which might not automatically be generated with a fund.

A lot of questions when it comes to crypto currency, to answer these questions we are coming with a handbook on crypto currency.

  • ONLINE DISPUTE RESOLUTION – A NEW WAY OF DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) is a parallel branch of Arbitration Dispute Resolution (ADR) with a tinge and addition of technology. We all are well aware of the traditional litigation processes which for some inevitable reasons will always prevail but the burden on the courts of dispute cases can be avoided. Arbitration Dispute Resolution is one avenue to resolve certain disputes through Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation which could ease the burden on the courts. Online Dispute Resolution also deploys Information Technology along with the ADR. With the introduction of e-Courts and online hearing through videoconferencing Indian Courts have stepped out of the traditional litigation process in the ongoing pandemic.

Today the commercial industry is huge so are the disputes arising out of it and these billion dollars disputes prefer to go to Arbitration for obvious reasons. Due to globalisation cross-border disputes are also surging and Online Dispute Resolution is the best way to settle a dispute.

We are launching a book on Online Dispute resolution and to show how to solve it online.

About National Forensic Sciences University

The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) with the status of an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India is the World’s First and Only University dedicated to forensic and investigative sciences.
It was established by the Government of India through Act, 2020 (32 of 2020) with the objective of fulfilling the acute shortage against the increasing demand for forensic experts in the country and around the world.
National Forensic Sciences University erstwhile, known as ‘Gujarat Forensic Science University is the brainchild of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modiji, then Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2009 established in the state of Gujarat to facilitate and promote studies and research and to achieve excellence in the field of forensic science in conjunction with applied behavioral science studies, law, criminology, and other allied areas and technology and other related fields. Prof. (Dr.) J. M. Vyas is the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

About the Workshop

The application of scientific methods to investigate crimes and to find out the suspect person involved in the crime has been playing a decisive role in crime investigation. With the development in science and technology the notion of crime as well as the various methods used by criminals in its commission have experienced a remarkable change. The term ‘Forensic’ is derived from the Latin word ‘forensic which means belonging to courts of justice. ‘Forensic Science can be well-defined as a “scientific discipline which is directed to the recognition, identification, individualization, evaluation of physical evidence by the application of the principles and methods of natural sciences for the purpose of administration of criminal
justice”. ‘Forensic Science’ includes all branches of physical and natural sciences i.e., chemistry, biology, physics, and geology. After the passage of few years, it has established its own branches, which are more or less the exclusive domain of forensic science. Anthropology, odontology, fingerprints, footprints, ballistics, serology, cyber forensic were basically developed to assist the criminal justice administration.
Collection and preservation of ‘forensic evidence’ is a challenging task for the law enforcement agencies which has utmost importance during criminal proceedings.

Further, it has been observed from many cases that due to improper collection of evidence from the crime scene, the prosecution has failed to prove the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt which ultimately results in acquittal of the accused. Moreover, the production of the ‘forensic evidence’ in an effective manner in the court of law also necessitates skills and knowledge which can be learned through proper training and practice.
The present workshop aims to address all the existing issues and loopholes and will provide a platform of learning to all stakeholders from experienced trainers in the field of forensic science.

Who May Participate?

• Law Students, Advocates, Research Scholars, Academicians
• Forensic Assistants, Law Enforcement Officers.

Objectives of the Workshop

• To equip the participants about basic concepts and recent trends in forensic science.
• To familiarize the participants with various tools and techniques used by forensic
labs for the detection of crimes.
• To explore challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in the preservation and
production of evidence before the court of law.
• To come up with suggestions and solutions for tackling the challenge of a miscarriage
of justice due to improper collection of evidence.

• Introduction to Forensic Science and Law
• Forensic Medicine and Toxicology
• Forensic Anthropology
• Questioned Documents and Handwriting
