Consultant

  • Master’s degree in economics, law, international law, public policy, data science, cost accounting, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 8 years post-qualification experience, out of which at least 3 years in the relevant field (e.g., international trade and allied fields).
  • Relevant work experience or research in international trade, economics, economic diplomacy, international law, investment, public policy, or related disciplines is desirable.

About the Opportunity

With a view to augment departmental representation in ITAT, the Young Professional Scheme envisions engagement of Young Graduates in Law & Accountancy who are rich in domain knowledge.

Such resources would aid the departmental officers in preparation of the cases admitted for hearing in Tribunals. In addition, they will also take up research/study work encompassing critical areas of tax litigation for effective litigation management.

Job Description:

The Young Professionals will be attached with the office of CsIT (DR) or Sr. DR in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal for studying the paper books of listed cases, analyzing the judgments relied upon by the assessee, finding out judgments in favour of the department & identifying distinguishing facts wherever applicable, and preparing the briefing notes and written submissions. They will also undertake research/study on specific points as briefed by CIT (DR)/Sr. DR.

CIT (DR) (Mentor concerned) will provide a brief orientation of deliverables expected from the Young Professional at the time of joining.

Age Limit: Candidates should not exceed 35 years of age as on the date of advertisement.

Essential Qualification

(i) Indian Nationals holding Graduate / Post Graduate degree in Law from recognized Universities, Colleges and Institutions of National and International repute, and/or Chartered Accountant.

(ii) Candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks in the 3 Year LL.B. or 5 Year integrated LL.B. degree program or Post Graduation degree program or a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Preferred Qualification

Detailed Roles and Responsibilities for Manager (Law)

The Manager (Law) position involves a range of critical functions focusing on legal compliance and risk mitigation:

  • Work related to liaising with relevant departments to ensure that legal risks have been identified.
  • Taking appropriate courses of action.
  • Continuously monitoring compliance with statutory obligations.
  • Advising management accordingly.
  • Reviewing the progress of outstanding litigation and liaising with external counsel/advocates.
  • Carrying out any other work assigned by the concerned Head of Department (HoD) / DPA Management.

Remuneration and Contractual Terms

The engagement is purely on a contract basis and does not confer any right to claim regular appointment.

  • Monthly Emoluments: The consolidated monthly remuneration offered is Rs. 80,000/-.
  • Increment: The monthly consolidated remuneration may be enhanced to a maximum of a 5% annual increment, subject to satisfactory performance.
  • Tenure: The contract duration is for a period of 3 years from the date of joining, which may be extended by another 2 years based on the performance and the candidate/necessity of engagement.

Selection Process and Important Dates

The Normal Selection Procedure involves shortlisting candidates based on qualification and experience, as determined by the DPA Management. The final selection will be made through a Personal Interview.

Any legal proceedings in respect of any matter of claim or dispute arising out of this advertisement shall have sole and exclusive jurisdiction to Courts/Tribunals/Forums at Ahmedabad/Gandhidham only.

How to Apply

Applicants must follow a two-step application process involving online submission followed by hard copy dispatch.

  1. Online Application: Applicants are required to apply online through the link available on the Deendayal Port Authority’s website: http://www.deendayalport.gov.in under the Recruitment Section. The application form will be available until 28/11/2025.
  2. Hard Copy Submission: The applicants must take a print-out of the duly filled-in Application Form from the online link, affix a recent passport size photograph, and send the same along with attested copies of all educational/experience/age certificates and other required documents.
  3. Dispatch Method: The documents must be sent through Speed Post/Registered Post.
  4. Submission Deadline: The hard copies must reach the Authority on or before 08/12/2025.
